Mine Exploration Calendar 2008

OK, here it is, the 2008 Calendar :)

Firstly, this year it was oversubscribed, more people than months. So a decision had to be made about who to include. One or two have been missed out, and apologies to those in whose photos haven't been used. We had to go with those that would print best.

By popular demand the main photo will have a caption (you can see it says 'photo caption' below right of each mine photo.

Could everybody please PM me a suitable caption for the main photo (and main photo only) some time today/tonight please? If you location is a bit iffy then an ambiguous caption is fine :)

Cheers to Orinocco for the original design which I've based this year's on (lacking as I do design skills...)

Thanks Graham

Hopefully early November they'll go on sale here and on DP (perhaps, if root wants to, otherwise I'll do all that side of it).

Will post on here as soon as they're available 🙂

Thanks Steve, ordering information etc will go up when the calendar is almost back from print; which is likely to be early November (giving tonnes of time to get them out in November and any late orders in December).

Watch this space 🙂

Looks very pukka indeed! Well done.

The colours on many of them somehow seem a bit unsaturated, is that because it's set for CMYK print now?

err, caption for the main picture, umm, how about "SimonRL on a Limestone Bridge".

Thank you for the caption. You'll not mind I hope if I change it to 'explorer on a limestone bridge'?

And yes, what you're looking at there are RGB screengrabs of CMYK PDFs.

At risk of causing trouble, I'm going to suggest the following modifications to the captions to bring them into a bit more alignment:

Ferret: Crab winch, Cliftworks area of Box Freestone quarry - Slight change

Miles: Limestone bridge, Milwr Tunnel - No change

SimonRL: Winch, Blaenau Ffestiniog slate mine - Slight change

Barney: Haulage floor, Blaenau Ffestiniog slate mine - Slight change

Nimrod: Artefacts in the top level extension, Coniston Copper Mines - Order changed

Vanoord: 'Lefel Dwr' drainage tunnel, Blaenau Ffestiniog - This was messy...

Clunk: Crane, Cliftworks area of Box Freestone quarry - Slight change

Mole: Reserve explosives station, Carrock Wolfram (Tungsten) mine, Cumbria - No change

Dark Prince: Conveyor, Monkton Farleigh - Order changed: is it worth adding what District this is in?

Tin Miner: Old Wagon, bottom level cross-cut of Bellan Mine, Cornwall - Slight change to wording

Darkstar: Mine pearls, Browns Folly - No change

Mike Leary: 1938 abandoned 'Jessica' workings, Monkton Farleigh District 11 - Order changed - is the 'Jessica' name needed?

My suggested last-minute changes to the captions! - fear not, there will be a 2008 calendar and it will be with everyone before Christmas. Trust in SimonRL 🙂

While we are on the subject, can I increase my order to 2 please?
