'A Spitzkasten in its simplest form consists of an inverted pyramidial box rectangular in plan, and having an aperture at the apex'.
A stream of pulp is allowed to flow slowly in at one side of the box, and the particles capable of falling through the belt of water are deposited. You really need to read the full description & see the drawings to fully understand!
That was taken from 'The Dressing of Minerals' by Henry Louis 1909, a cracking bedtime read - over 540 pages of sizzling mineral dressing action!!!
I can try to scan the relevent pages if you wish?
For Huhrig, I think you need Luhrig Vanners - a type of shaking table, also decribed in Louis.
Grey Gold (Greenside Mine) by Sam Murphy has details of the Luhrig Vanners & also the Spitzkasten used there, page 221 shows the Luhrig Vanner,
and pages 207 & 284 onwards describe the Spitzkasten and their positions in the Low mill.
Discovering Lost Mines by Peter Naylor also has a small drawing of the Spitzkasten (p48, Greenside)
Boxler, I haven't found yet, but i'm looking!
