If any one can help i am looking for books papers websites that have the grid references for mine levels, shafts and tips in the uk mainly cumbria north pennines yorkshire derbyshire cornwall and deven any help would be well come

Have a look at 'hitch n hike' website and follow the links to cave access, shed loads of information on Derbyshire mines and caves, access, grid refs, rigging info

It descrribes locations in terms of "3 miles ENE of Porthleven" rather than giving grid references but H. G. Dines "The Metalliferous Mineing region of South-west England" Volumes one and two is excellent for finding mines in Devon and Cornwall.
Its part of the Brithish Geological Survey's economic memoirs series published by HMSO ~(ISBN 0 85272 104 8 )
