The Proceedings of the 2014 NAMHO Conference are now available.

Paying delegates to last year's conference are entitled to one free copy each. I will be taking copies to the 2015 conference to distribute to last year's delegates. For those people not going to this year's conference I will endeavour to pass them on directly (or by 'caver post'). Otherwise, unfortunately, we will have to charge p&p of £2.50.

The papers in the Proceedings cover prehistoric mining technology, the introduction of deep mining in Devon and Cornwall, the technological background of the Newcomen engine, the German mine managers at Tyndrum, a history of boreholes for geological investigation and other purposes, mine drainage and copper precipitation at Parys Mountain, Anglesey, metalliferous exploration in north Wales since 1964, technological and social change in the extractive industries of north-west Wales, the stone cutting and tunnelling machines of James and George Hunter, the electrification of the north Wales slate quarries and technology adoption in stone quarrying in Wales.

Mining Technology, ed. D. J. Linton, Welsh Mines and Mining 4 (Welsh Mines Society, 2015), PB, 180 pp, ISBN 978-0-9561377-3-9, £12.50 + £2.50 p&p

Good Evening from a warm Croatia. I won't be at Nenthead but if you give my copy to John Barnatt (who is booked in) it will reach me back in Derbyshire.

The papers from NAMHO 2013 are fairly well under control and will, hopefully, be published as 'Mining History' Vol. 19 No. 3 later in the summer. This will be issued free to members of PDMHS, but I am not privy to what the distribution beyond this will be.

All being well I'll be somewhere near the Conference registration desk on the Friday afternoon and evening so people can pick up their copies there.

I will also have copies for sale at a 'special conference price' of £11.50 for people who were not at the 2014 conference. (OK, I know it's not much of a reduction on the full price but it's the best I've been allowed to offer. :surrender: )

Dave

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
