Friday 2nd March marks 250 yrs since the discovery of the Great Lode of copper on Parys Mountain.
There are some celebrations:
Friday in Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones (Amlwch High School)
6 - 7pm Exhibition about the history of the mines (PUG have a stand)
7 - 7:30pm A short play, Twm Chwarae Teg (Tom 'Fair Play') who managed the mines and made them pay
8pm onwards in the Dinorben Arms, Amlwch. Live music and refreshments
Sun 4th March on Parys Mountain (heritage car park adjacent to B5111 close to Morris Shaft headgear)
Arr car park 12:30 - 1pm
1 - 1:25 Short rememberable service led by Rev Ken Ellis and recital by local school
1:30 - 2:30 Guided surface walks by local guides and members of PUG
NB. In event of inclement weather, events on mountain will be rescheduled
3 - 4pm In St Eleth's (Amlwch Parish Church) - Exhibition of Parys history and exploration
