Hi folks,
Just a gentle reminder for you all about the Alderley Edge trip on the 9th September, kindly being run by the DCC. We currently have 8 people signed up (there are spare places).
If you're one of the registered attendees, please can you check that you can still make the trip (in case you signed up months ago!)?

Further details on the trip should be added in the next few days, but for now it's meeting at 10am, at the Wizard pub- see the event's page for a location map.

Quick bump for this.

A decision will be made on the day for which mine to visit- depending on attendees interests.

DCC are doing their open weekend on 2nd/3rd September - I presume they'll be doing their usual Wood Mine trips but they may be willing to take you into one of the other ones if you ask nicely?

Much as I'd like to come over for the AN trip, I'm going to be at Magpie all day Sunday doing the blacksmithing display - two full days on the trot would attract the wrath of SWMBO...

Hello!

Yes we are doing our usual open weekend on the first weekend of September, which of course all BCA members are more than welcome to turn up to, and Wood Mine will be lit up. However it's an odd one, as the open weekend is geared towards the public, so it's unlikely you will get to see as much as you will on a full day trip with just mine explorers, (unless you camp over with us)!

We usually also do one public trip to West Mine during the open weekend, and there are usually some members who go off to do the boat trip, or to other places but this is not guaranteed, and the times not fixed. But if you are willing to camp over and stay for the open weekend, you would get to see a lot.

I can confirm parking in the National Trust car park will be free for aditnow members on Saturday 9th September.

Regards,
Lauren 😉

Hi Everyone,
Please accept my apologies, I am no longer able to make the trip on Saturday myself. But you shall be in the capable hands of Olly, Callum and Dave 😉

Have a good day everyone

Looking at the list it looks like the following will be there:

Bill1980
Hattlebags
ILT
sinker
TheBogieman
Willy Eckerslyke

If anybody else can't go please can they advise here - so they know on the day not to wait for you! Thanks.

I believe the details have been circulated around the Thursday Night gang to see if any more of them want to attend.

No, none. The decision on where to go will be made when you get there, depending on how everyone feels. That said, please bring standard kit- oversuit/coveralls headtorch/helmet etc!

Are SRT or Cowstails needed / useful ? And how deep is the water (ankle, welly, jewellery, waist, chest, neck or snorkel) ?

I'm sorry but something's cropped up so I'm not going to get there.
Thanks for organising the trip, hope it's a success. :flowers:

Attendees confirmed then:

Bill1980
Hattlebags
ILT
sinker

It won't harm to put cowstails in, a lot will depend on which mine you decide to do on the day. There are some ladders in places in all of the mines.

Engine Vein has a canoe trip, which was great fun, you may get wet feet but no deep wading. Wood and West are dry.

BUT for those enjoying a day underground at Alderley...
You will not be disappointed I promise....
fantastic trips (whichever one) guided by some great knowledgeable folks.
We really do need to get back again (I might even bring food again for the after show party ;-))

Indeed, 'small, but perfectly formed' would describe our party. Enabled us to stop frequently to discuss where we were and take copious photos. Also meant just one boat trip rather than having to shuttle.
Friendships renewed and made. Thoroughly interesting place with loads more to see in the future.
Favourite things? Several blue waterfalls and the very impressive Roman level, shaft and small niche altar. The work DCC have done to reopen and make safe is astounding.
All in all, superb visit and again, reiterate our thanks to Olly and Costas.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
