Hmmm....so much for my New Year's Resolution to be more organised... 😞 😒

We need an easy trip and then a nice cosy pub nearby for a pint afterwards...Betws or Capel Curig areas are fairly central for most folk....any suggestions? I say a nice easy trip as Simonrl has a 6000 mile journey the next day and I also have a VERY early start and a long haul (but not 6000 miles... )
How easy is it to get to Clogwyn Y Fuwch? I've never been but I think the road goes fairly close by the track up there?

Been there once, seem to remember it was quite a flounder up the hillside - although it was mid-summer and 6' tall bracken last time I went!

Thinking cap on...

The best thing about Clogwyn y Fuwch is the view from the top - which you won't get on a January night. IMO there's not much to see underground.

Yes....it's one for a sunny Saturday I think

What about one of the more obscure Llan Ffestiniog slate mines? Foel Gron...Llew Twrog?

Agreed, Clogwyn y Fuwch not terribly exciting underground and best on a summer evening :)

Good idea Sinker... around the Ffestiniog area we have:

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/mines/Croes-y-Ddwy-Afon-Slate-Mine/  - tremendous if you want to go home bright orange ;)

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/mines/Foel-Gron-Slate-Mine/  - even more tremendous if you want to go home soaked ;)

And a few I've no experience of, but from checking the Gazeteer have some underground:

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/mines/Cwm-Teigl-Slate-Mine/

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/album/Drum-Slate-Mine-2-User-Album/

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/album/Cwm-Cynfal-Copper-Mine-3-User-Album/

More promising looking for an underground wander:

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/album/Bryn-glas-Slate-Mine-User-Album/

Bron Goronwy: not in the database! But the book says tunnel leading to chambering SH729414

Bryn Glas could be a possibility? It would be a bracing walk even if we didn't find the mine    There is a track leading down to the lake...you could park down there a few years ago, probably still can. If not, there is a car park on the main road...
Bryn Goronwy is a new one on me, I shall investigate

But anywhere is ok by me.

Meet at 1800, Cwm Cynfal, in the Car Park opposite the track to the lake.
I will post up a proper location and a mapping link later on when I get 5 mins 😞
See you all there!

Ok, sorry that this post is late...I have been "off the grid" all day earning a living.

So...tomorrow night, meet here:

http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=52.958211&lon=-3.885373&z=17.1&r=0&src=msl

at 1800....I promise to be on time

Attending so far are:

Myself
Simonrl
Llion

Willy?
Chrisj
Carlin?
Skimble?
Owaincbrown?

Any more? All welcome. :flowers:
No SRT on this one, unless we find something interesting up there

Plan is a fairly easy wander ( ) to Bryn Glas and then retire somewhere quiet for half a mild and a packet of crisps  .
I've never been here, nor Simonrl I don't think and even Llion hasn't been there in 25 years so Lord knows what we'll find.....the mine hopefully
Post up or PM to let me know who to expect :flowers:
See you later and thanks for your patience :flowers:

There's a mention of an "unguarded shaft" here

Worth taking SRT kit or just drop stones down and listen for the splash?

I'll be there, SRT or a walk about? I've a friend who wants to come if it's a walkabout.

Sorry folks I'm not going to be able to make it tonight after all.
Have a good evening (and don't find anything exciting without me  )
I'll send Sinker a text incase no one sees this until after the trip.
