The Little Meet at Pleasley Colliery is almost upon us. It will take place next Saturday, 8 September 2012 starting at 10:00 am.

The highlight of the event will be the launch of The Wolf Safety Lamp Centenary Book and copies will be available for purchase. We are also starting the countdown to the next Big Meet in June 2013 when the featured manufacturer will be Joseph Cooke & William Hall of Birmingham. Please bring your Cooke & Hall lamps as we would be very grateful for the opportunity to inspect and photograph them to help our research.

The 190 page, hard backed, A4 Wolf Centenary Book is packed with illustrations in full colour and includes every known flame safety, alkaline electric and carbide acetylene lamp produced by the company over the 100 years since their foundation. It also has photographs of their Leeds and Sheffield factories, together with copies of many of their illustrated leaflets and catalogues. It gives Patent and Approvals dates and estimated production figures for a wide range of their flame safety lamps. The book will enable you to spot the rarities within your own collection and date lamps more easily.

The price for members of the Society will be £20 per copy. The price for additional copies and non-members will be £29 per copy.

Remember, if you attended The Big Meet 2012 at Pleasley in June, you have entered the draw for a copy of the book signed by John Jackson who is the grandson of William Maurice and the current Chairman of the company. The winner must be present at Pleasley on Saturday at 12 noon when the prize draw will take place in the winding house. If not, then further tickets will be drawn until we have a winner on site.
