Hi folks,
the thread title says it all really, we're trying to work out what day is best for underground trips - saturdays or sundays? Has anyone got a preference??

Always seem to be out on a sunday though unfortunately. 😞

Either for me, its more dependent on if I have the snappers in tow as I share them alternate weekends with the ex-wife!

I'm with RJV, Saturdayts for sure. Then you can drink lots of beer in that post-mine explore glowing adrenalin buzz and not worry about getting up for work with a hangover the next day. Thats what I do anyway.

The key point for me is having dates in reasonably good time so I can plan around 'em. 🙂 Having said that I prefer Saturdays if a longish journey is involved......

I work nights, including Friday night, so got to be Sundays for me.

Unless, as owt stated, the lead time is sufficient for me to put in the holiday form...

Saturday all the way.

Hate having to force my way past bags full of muddy wet kit and rusting SRT gear on the way to work first thing on a monday morning.

If I am away for the weekend, then Saturday trips are usually better as there isn't this feeling that you have to get out, pack up and go home. But if you are away, don't you do trips on both days? From home, I'm easy - Sat or Sun makes no difference really.

Friday evening: travel
Saturday: trip
Sunday: travel home, clean kit and get presentable for work on Monday morning

Saturdays, because there is nothing worse than coming home from a long day underground and then having to sort things out for 'Monday morning' and work.

Thinking about it a bit more the best day for trips is neither Saturdays nor Sundays. The best trips are midweek on long, warm summers evenings when you can have a quick dash underground followed by a pint of decent beer in the beer garden of a country pub (or many more if its not your turn to drive!) and a bag of scratchings knowing you're at work tomorrow and not giving a flying ferk about it cos you know all the mouth-breathers you work with will be sat at home watching Celebrity Karaoke Iceskating whilst you've attained all that civilised man could ever hope for!.

Round these parts Mid week is sacrosanct as that's diggin nite!! when we get to go and play with all kinds of fun things. (sometimes we even get to blow things up!!)

Either tends to suit me, but then I don't have the early start and commute on Monday morning... just have to stumble downstairs!

One proviso for Sunday trips though - need to be home in time for curry night :lol:

my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by
