Hi. I am building a scale model of the Winding Engine that was used to haul bricks from the Fieldhouse works to the canal. the steam engine is of the 1850 circi. Who would be the best people to obtain OS maps of that period, up to the 1906/7 map by which time the engine does not appear to be there. Thank you, Regards Geoff.
P.S. I have since learned that the engine has been preserved at the Tolson Museum in Huddersfield, I await findings from them. Thanks Again.

You should be able to browse all the available OS maps for free here :-

There looks to be a small book (8 pages) about the engine. Also, the Kirklees image library has a couple of photos of the works at Fieldhouse. Don't know if that will be of any use.

If the engine is open to view at the museum (not all of it is open to the public), then perhaps one of us locals might be able to get photos if that would be of help.

In exchange for photos of the model of course!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
