I was listening to the news on the way home and heard about a landslip closing the railway for a few weeks; and I did wonder what it could of been.

Fairly impressive - looks like a new ride at Alton Towers 😮

Now....... who gets to pay for it?
I went in a mine once.... it was dark and scary..... full of weirdos

When do I get my soapbox, I need to rant on about some b***cks

I hope that this doesn't result in the closure of Hatfield Colliery. The financial implications of this landslip are enormous. 😞

It was on the news last week that the tip is still moving. When its stopped there is over one million cubic meters of spoil to move before they can make a start on the rail side. June is the earliest when it will be done. I wonder if the mines insurance will cover this?

Notwork Fail must have some liability? There responsibilities must presumably extend beyond monitoring the integrity of the track bed to any external factor which might affect it? Hope so anyway as someone who relies on the train to get to work...

The part of the tip that has moved was built on soft ground. The ground cant support the tip so as the tip is pushing down this is pushing the soft ground to the side. This is why the railway has moved. I doubt network rail has any control over this so they will probably sue the colliery.

Been in the area today doing some railway photography and met some rail people who seemed to know what was happening, was told the damage is approx 40 million to sort !!!! Tip still moving also..... Ouch! Slip was detected initially after complaint of rough riding by a driver.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh Creeper!!!!!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
