Hallo,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any surveys / maps / descriptions of Carrock Mine (or parts of it)? And if I need to bring rope / ladders for any parts of it?

I also heard that there is bad air in places, could anyone tell me whereabouts this is so that I can avoid it?

Thanks!

Air is bad where tailings from the flotation process were pumped back into the mine which is basically anything to the left of the entrance adit. There are in situ ladders in there which are in pretty good condition but the platforms and fixings are not so take great care if you go climbing, ages since I was in there but someone probs has more recent info.

Some of the ore chutes in the far reaches are pretty bad so don't climb on them.

Hi if you PM me I am often in this mine with my youngest son
but a low oxygen area is also found down one of the tunnels but clearly marked - the tunnel has nothing of any interest in it that i can see,
happy to show you around

I have uploaded a photoof the warning sign marking one of the low oxygen
areas - please don't proceed past this , the oxygen does drop off!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
