Thanks.

But is it the same one as this:

If it is I'll move the survey across and delete the duplicate.

Glen Sannox shows up well on Google Earth-Satelite and is marked on on the 6" 1869 map of Argyllshire CCXXXVIII. If you can get hold of Memoirs of the Geological Survey. Special Report on the Mineral Resources of Great Britain. Vol. II Barytes and Withorite 1922 look at page 100. JeremyL

I think I added that mine years ago, the grid reference is correct. I'm not aware of any other mines by that name, Arran only has three underground mines, so far accessible, tis the only mineral mine on the island certainly 🙂

Looking at the meet report and the sketches this is certainly the same mine. The map reff is taken from 'A Gazetteer to the Metal Mines of Scotland'. The fourth edition is on the aditnow as pdf, with lots of corrections and additions. Hope this helps. JeremyL

I guess that the grid reference is somewhat subjective. The mine sort of spreads up both sides of the valley. If you're ever up that way then I highly recommend it, bit unstable in parts but it most be one of the most dramatically situated mines I've ever been to.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
