Looking on Coflein, there was a mine just off Cimla Road, Gnoll Colliery. A couple of minutes searching seems to indicate that this colliery was possibly extensive and historic, with a number of shafts and possibly bell pits.
Madness takes its toll, please carry exact change

More sinkholes to add to the collection, this time close to me in Cambridge!

The article is very 'Cambridge' Neil Mackay gets a say but doesn't manage to mention the congestion charge proposal and an 18 year old sixth form geography student is very concerned
If I had a band I'd definitely call my next album 'Bad Ground on a Dead End Street'

Heaven preserve us from the BBC's 'experts'. When there's an aircrash they interview anyone who has seen an aircraft in flight and almost always at Heathrow, even if the plane crash is Malaysia. Doubtless anyone who has seen a hole in the ground larger than one fit for planting a geranium in will have been dragooned in as a 'sinkhole expert'.
