Hello,

I am doing some family history research and wondered if you could assist me, or perhaps put me in touch with someone who could.

My ancestor was from Cornwall who moved to Wales as a Miner in the mid 1800's.

His name was Thomas Pascoe (B. 5/2/1824 - Sithney, Cornwall) he moved to Wales sometime in 1850's and has 3 children born between 1854 & 1857 at Rhosgell (Rhos-y-gell), Llanfihangel Upper - Rheidol, Aberystwyth, Cardigan. In 1854 he was a Miner and by 1855 was a head Agent.

In 1858/9 he moved to Clydey, Pembroke and in 1859 when his last child was born he was the manager of lead mines in Clydey.

I require any help/information on either of the mining locations, but with a preference to the lead mine in Clydey and wondered if there were any records that could confirm he was there and if so, how long he was working there for...

I have no records for him from 1850 onwards and would dearly love to be able to trace him!

I eagerly await your reply.

Very Kindest Regards

Sue 🙂 😉

Search the Exeter University mining history website - Dr.Peter Claughton has uploaded quite a bit of unpublished information on Llanfyrnach Mine as well as references to published accounts. If you email him via the Exeter website he might be able to help you.

I have added a photo. Found Dr C's field notes for a WMS trip in 1990. More than my life is worth to print them here 😢
