Sorry, I thought it was linked. Klondyke slate workings near Hodge Close / Tilberthwaite Coniston.

As far as I can remember, near the top of one of the spoil tips there is a level that has been partly bulldozed. However there is a hole with some rope that you can hand-over-hand down into the workings which take you through a pit with some tunnels to the main workings.

The drainage level into Hodge Close is worth a look if you are nearby, it leads to all sorts of workings and it opens out into the massive pit. You look like an ant down there to all of the tourists looking down from the edge above.

Thanks for that, I will have a look next time I'm working up that way. I've seen all the pictures on here but never found it even though I spend quite a while working around Hodge close and exploring. Basically I'm looking for great overnight bivvy spots in wet weather in various parts of the lakes as well as doing a little relatively easy exploration. If anyone thinks there's something I should check out please post

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
