I would add that this mine closed in 1920, with the closure of the ‘main Nenthead mines’. Which in turn was due to the removal of the wartime subsidy on raising lead & Zinc ores.
It was used to work the upper sills of the Rampgill Mine, and unlike, many of these mines the waste contained Fluorite!
In fact when we visited the area in late 1960’s a guy was pulling out ore for sending to one of the local fluorspar dressing plants.
