Hi folks,

Trying to figure out if copper ore concentrate sales were ever recorded for Clogau/Vigra mines during their 19th Century operations. Anyone know? I've checked with Roger Burt and his figures do not include these mines, but in George Hall's book, mention is made of the production of 15 to 40 tons of chalcopyrite concentrates a month, in 1900, albeit fairly poor grade.

"Clogau" and copper get a mention here. Assume it's the right place?

Right place, no data! Reading Morrison's Goldmining in Western Merioneth, it seems to be the case that copper production figures, if ever preserved, remain undiscovered. Morrison gives base-metal production (Pb/Zn/Ag) stats alongside gold for some other mines in the district. It's an interesting one: Vigra has evidently seen much work done, and at the stratigraphic horizon in which the lode was worked one would not expect gold to be important, yet there's not a mention of production that I can find.

I found this.
Copper ore and metal production figures for "Vigra and Cloga" (Clogau?) for 1845 to 1846 are on the last page of the PDF

Thanks - that's taken the search further than I thought possible!
