For the first Thursday night trip this autumn we're staying above ground - mostly. A visit to Cwm Bychan (the one near Beddgelert) is on the cards.
There are a few adits dotted around so bring a hat and light but it's mostly a pleasant walk through lovely scenery with some interesting industrial archaeology to look at.

Meet at the NT car park around 6:15pm:

Everyone welcome, of course. :flowers:

When you reach the top of the valley you are almost above sygun. There are a couple of nice looking stopes you can enter here I'm not sure which mine it is or how big they are, didn't have a light or gear with me at the time. Might be worth a look if you have time?

A scramble up from the highest point of the path, there's a stope which drops down into water which looks pretty deep, if that's one you mean Dan. And round the corner there's a very deep shaft with a somewhat rusty grill over it. It seems unlikely that their connected as the water level in the shaft appears to be a fair bit lower than the stope.
It was getting pretty dark by then so we took the easier path down to Llyn Dinas instead of trying to find the one down to Sygyn itself. Need to return in daylight.

Desk top check this morning, the junction off to the right towards Sygyn was much further beyond that valley below us and towards Beddgelert. It then traverses East down to the Sygyn building. Going left by the style not right as I scouted.

Arn't maps great!:)
