Hi Dan I normally put the equipment on the credits, forgot on this one .

I use for all of my photography a Olympus TG4 which suites my needs perfect, as I take it diving as well ( in a housing) it is a compact so it is easy to cart around and works very well with the 20mm wide angle that you can buy for it . It does have its faults mainly in the video department but the stills we get from it on the live composite mode are quite nice.

I think the faults mainly slow focus in low light and a funny quiver that appears sometimes if you pan to quick whilst videoing have been addressed better in the TG5 model.

I suppose somebody else will pitch in with other types of equipment to use but this camera works well for us .

As for lights, I use various set ups but on video we use Green Forch video lights which have a nice colour temp and I light paint with various torches but they all have the same colour temp at 4500 kelvins.

I you have this years calendar from Aditnow the August page is painted with these torches and live composite mode .

If you need any more info I will be more than happy to help

Paul

Hi Paul,

That CAL link to ask for permission doesn't work, what are the restrictions in place for users wanting to enter? There are 5 of us wanting to make this trip but only one of us currently has insurance, who would essential act as the lead responsible person. Is this acceptable or would all users entering hafna require insurance? We're also keen to visit level fawr at some point and I believe that is also a CAL secured mine?

Hi Praada

I am a director of Cave Access Ltd along with Stuart France and Dave Tyson, so am happy to answer any questions.

Its is all there on the CAL website as Paul has said.
Sorry but all people using our mines under the permit scheme must have BCA membership which includes public liability insurance. This is in the terms of our agreement with the Welsh Government, and abuse of the scheme could prejudice its future.

I am unsure which Lefel Fawr you are referring to, Lefel Fawr at Cwmystwyth is owned by Cambrian Mines Trust, the one at Pontrydygroes is on private property.

For Cwmystwyth see www.cambrianmines.co.uk

Not a problem, thanks Roy, I will PM you rather than fill up Paul's thread with off topic stuff 🙂 I have just applied for DIM BCA insurance so that makes two of us now, for the sake of £11 for the remainder of the year I will get the other lads to sign up!

Yes, its sense. And, if you look at it a slightly different way, damn good value for money and peace of mind as well if someone trips over your cowstail.

BCA insurance is really cheap and very easy to get I would suggest all your buddys get it .

Also the new link is working now that I re-edited

The CAL website is now hosted at:

http://www.caveaccess.co.uk/mines/index.html

This is the definitive site. The old rakelane site will stay for a while more. I'll fix up a redirect to the new site later today.

It will need updating with the safety work recently completed at Talybont, Wilkinsons Level.
