Hello all!

This Thursday we are going for a wander up to Conglog slate quarry (weather permitting) with the possibility of doing some ropework, so bring SRT kit if you are interested, but it isn't essential. A further walk up to Rhosydd (time permitting) might also be on the cards.

If the weather turns poor then we might take a pop into Cmworthin instead. Again, bring SRT kit if interested.

Hope to see you all there :flowers:

That's a shame Llion, we ended up in Wrysgan instead and had a lovely trip. With a new recruit too.

A very enjoyable trip.

Our recruit sends her thanks to you, Willy, for kindly lending her kit for the trip!

Speaking of Wrysgan. Is the incline still climbable these days? Bottom looked a bit loose when I was walking past back in Spring.

The internal incline is as steep and unpleasant as ever. I've yet to summon the energy to try the external one.

It's quite some time (nearly 11 years!) since I walked up the exit incline.

The top part through the tunnel is 'interesting'. Most of the packing from the incline is missing and what is left is a series of rock steps, some getting on towards a metre high. When negotiating these, looking back down the incline makes it feel quite exposed. I would not recommend descending that way. :o

I climbed it 12 months ago from the tarmac road halfway up, it is challenging but do-able

I descended it roughly 12 months ago. Getting off when done at the lower part is interesting, but it's certainly doable, and gives your thighs a workout the Gym can only dream of.

As said, some of the "steps" in there are a decent size. Not for those with issues of a vertical nature.
