I'm not convinced that rope would do you much good if you where clipped to it and the cable failed. The weight of the cable fixed to you would be pretty grim. Having said that I always clipped to it for that reason!!

Happy to help out. I've mixed availability for weekends this month, but things calm right down next month. Also have some appropriate resin still in date suitable for slate which I'd be happy to donate providing appropriate anchors could be sourced (something along the Petal Batinox would be ideal)

I don't think the short Petzl anchors are being / should be considered. It's got to be the long resin studs really, something like a pair of M24 on each end will be easy to do and potentially outlast everyone who uses them.

Okay bud. Well, got lots of 12mm offcuts about so might as well go with the larger wire as it's no more or less work to install than 10mm.

It would be quite nice to know the length though roughly, so we don't need to carry way more than is needed.

I've got loads of massive resin studs here in M30, happy to use four of them on this zipline. They go in a lot deeper than sport anchors where the rock is better.

I'll have a think of a date one weekend coming up and hopefully we can get a small team together to go sort it.

I went through this mine with some friends last Saturday,
attached are some rubbish pictures of the temporary rigging to replace the first zipwire.

We retensioned it and were skimming the water at the lowest point.

The current line is attached to a single bolt at the far side.
I am attempting to hold the chain and remains of the cable out of the way for the pictures. At the time re-tieing this end of the rope into the maillion and re-tensioning would have been a nightmare, and time we didnt have to spend.
So I tied a length of tat around the tensioned line, threaded as an american death triangle through all the available anchors then back around the main line. This isnt holding any weight, but was intended as a backup if the single bolt does fail.

Another points we noticed on out trip was that the 2nd abseil has a nick in the rope, it is about 4 meters from the floor and you can easily see the core.

I'd love to offer my help for re-equiping this, but I dont have any free weekends until the new year.

That cable I think is 8mm, which is quite under spec. Don't think it to be 6mm. Will install 13mm.

The chain Y hangs might well be up to it, depends on what chain it is and how it was equalised.

I see the anchors are Petzl expansions - and that, above all, is fecking terrifying. They are *not* up to that task, at all.

Probably just focus on anchor installation. Got four high tensile studs here with matching Grade80 eyes. They have a minimum failure load of 40 tons each, but more important than that they go much deeper into the slate. We'll dress the rock back first as the outer layer of chamber walls is usually fractured from the charges.

I would suggest that hanging the new cable might be for a round 2 as there is a fair bit of clobber required.

I would also suggest a prussic back out, or would pushing through be better do you think? Can't remember the distances all that well.
