This is a new one on me - anyone shed any light on this?

the latest newsletter says they have re-opened the old Sandwith anhydrite drift and explored the start of it.

Making slow progress.

They can't do much more until the outcome of the planning application - now likely to be considered at CCC meeting in January. Sandwith is waterlogged and will only be pumped out if the outcome is positive.

With all this talk of banning diesel and electric cars taking over I'm surprised the DCC aren't looking to re-open the cobalt mine at Alderley Edge

Where exactly is all the electricity coming from to power all these additional electric cars?

That is a whole other debate

But it does seem certain that cobalt use is only going to go up, not just for cars but all sorts of gadgetry, even vacuum cleaners seem to be going rechargeable these days.

And with people becoming more aware that their mobile phone battery probably contains material mined by a child in the Congo and being a bit uncomfortable about it, if you can find somewhere else to dig some up there might be a few quid to be made?

Current estimates that it will take between 9 and 11 more nuclear power stations to charge all the electric cars

That's an awful lot of wind turbines

Thats before you start on commercial vehicles.

After we get the new power stations the whole UK distribution network will have to be upgraded.
All the recharging power upgrades to every ones residence will be an enormous undertaking.

In our increasingly lawless society I wonder what will happen as lines of houses with no garages have cables going to re-charge cars parked on the road. Would that even be allowed ? Trailing 250v cables across the pavement ?
if eight out of ten cats all prefer Whiskas
Do the other two prefer Lesley Judd ?

I suppose one would have to purchase a roadside charging point, (Government subsidy available).
