That sounds right for the first one. I want to say it was on the right, on lake level. It headed to the OVI somewhere, I remember being a bit iffy about the state of it, and a few did back out. Quite reminded me of scree on the way down it.

Ah ha, lake level, under the BVI, turn right, follow the passage with the land rover tracks, turn right again (where you'd turn left for the OVI head) and the man way down is in the first chamber. It is a slithery scree slope down and from there you can connect back to the OVI (or the steps).

The "reverse-round-trip"...my favourite Cwmorthin route. Let me know when you want to go back and I'll join you

Ah yes. By the way you can now walk from cwmorthin old vein to DE floor via what used to be "the dip". Its not really a dip any more and you can remain dry.

So you can do the round trip without needing to go near 8E.

Not much fun if you don't have to walk the plank (is it back yet Miles?) then climb the ladder in 7E...

It was suggested in a recent conversation on the aditnow Facebook page that Sir Francis might be a bit more comfortable in the summer months - something to consider. Also, if people were feeling ambitious and were donning wetsuits anyway you could do the Hard Level/Brandybottle through trip and Sir Francis in a day. I could sort permission from gamekeepers to ferry damp explorers straight over the moor in a land rover or two. Just a thought...

I'd be up for joining in a Nenthead trip and have a reasonable idea of my way around, but there's plenty of folks on here know it much better - think you maybe meant to put me on the list for Sir Francis rather than that. I've done most bits of the Greater Nenthead Traverse at various times but never done it in a oner, so if anyone else fancied that as the Nenthead trip I'd be keen.

If there's any appetite for either a Deep Ecton or Clayton trip (or both in one day if we're quick!), I can sort that out very easily.

well, you still go over the plank. It does bypass the ladder in 7E though. The ladder is cool but going that way means you still need to go through the horrendous 8E which isn't a safe chamber to be in these days...

I mostly remember managing to walk in a complete circle round one of the bigger chambers (while everyone else laughed at me), because I couldn't find the way out in the gloom!

Deal.

Incredibly unlikely to be this year, I don't fancy the A5 in the pissing rain/freezing cold/both on a bike that's decided that 50 is as much as she wants to do over distance. New bike in the springtime methinks.

We'll incorporate it into the "Litter-picking Trip".

I may be up for this dependant on dates but would need to buy a wetsuit - I'd certainly like to have a look at Sir Francis level.

I'd be up for a Surrey trip, club evening trips are a harder call for me these days. People actually expect me to stay at work the whole day and do stuff 😞

I wonder how many SE AN members there are that we have never met? It would be good to have a trip.

I'd be up for a trip into Sir Francis level, especially if coupled with the Hard/Brandybottle through trip. I have no SRT gear and only limited experience with ropes so feel a Nent traverse might be beyond my skillset, unless I was with some seriously patient types!
