I suppose you've seen this on Cris' site ?
https://sites.google.com/site/cavesofnorthwales/12-caves-found-in-mines

The adit location and heading might help locate the shaft?

Cheers,

thanks Robin , yes the arrow on street map ( cavesofnorthwales)
is right in the middle if the woods / it does say densely wooded area and where the arrow points is in line with the adit and the shaft I found nearer the quarry - however after much circling around the spot nothing was found ?

It is a short mine ... a passage takes you to a collapsed chamber with no apparent way on. You can walk around in the chamber (it is quite spacious) but I think you are walking on what was the ceiling. I would estimate around 60 feet to the chamber so I would guess it has collapsed since Cris was able to survey it.

Interestingly, there is a "hole" to surface partway along the passage which is too small to climb up but from which you can feel a draught and pick up leaves from the floor.

:)

A door, once opened, may be stepped through in either direction.

There is a similar feature at Camdwrbach nr Talybont a short distance along the adit. Short cut for air pipes or similar?

Think Cris mentioned shaft being used as a flue, so most likely something along those lines.

thanks for that , was the entrance your mentioning in the middle of the woods or near the quarry ? if not I'm stumped 😢
