has anyone experience of the above level? some pictures on here showing open portals, hoping to include it in an upcoming trip, wondered if anyone had any experience of it?

Is it worth visiting? does it go far? any of interest accessible?

The lower one goes for a few 10's of meters to a fall. There is also a very small level going of inside (ideal if your 40cm tall) that looks to be a drainage leat. The higher one when we had a look at it had the gate bolted. The bolt was really rusty and you could not undo it. There is also a surface shaft that intersects them (collapsed). The levels only go for around 200m and thats it - trials.

The lower level was accessible to a roof fall in around 1970, but despite the flowing water, had very low oxygen.

The upper level - I presume you mean Grassfield Level - was a water supply for many years . It is no longer a water supply. I recall that United Utilities did a survey of the workings, but do not have a copy.

Pete, as far as I know that is not part of the 2 levels at Croft / Magazine Level - its a separate level. Grassfield Level is in a different location.

Croft / Magazine are within 10m of each other with a height difference of 3-4m. They converge at a shaft.
