You can't have looked very hard then ;)

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Database/

Select 'United Kingdom'

Select 'Gold'

Click 'Show as Map (Google)'

There are 42 results in the UK, click on the pushpins, grid ref. Click on the mine name, full details.

Hi. The UK map in aditnow does not show all possible sites in Scotland. 'A Gazetteer to the Metal Mines of Scotland' has 11 references to gold. You can view this as a PDF file in the appropriate section in this web site. If you need actual Map Refs. come back to me. JeremyL

Good question! never done it, not very computer literate! Also some of the mines, gold is not the mineral that the mine was most productive so which mineral do you put it under? This is common with lead and silver and lead and zink, And several is placer gold, Help!!! JeremyL

Worms, can of!

This has come up several times before I think. There is a 'mixed' option for the mineral but it's a bit wishy-washy I think.

Probably whatever you think the major mineral mined is would be the best bet then add a note in the description re any others. Determine that how you will! ::)

Pointers for adding mines 🙂 ...

(for anybody who is interested/curiious)

Firdtly, please check the mine hasn't already been added; the easiest way of doing this is to type the name into the search box (top right of every page) and hit search. Tip... Just search on the name eg "rhosydd" and not "rhosydd slate mine". Or use the advanced search.

Duplicates create a headache for admins! And confuse people :(

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Database/

And click the link in the orange box on the right hand side.

There is then one - relatively - simple form where you enter all the information. This is what displays so captialise correctly. Locate the mine by zooming and dragging the map around until you are happy with the location.

When you add a mine the default user and archive photo albums are created automatically; ready for people to upload photos.

I would say add mines under their main product; and you can indicate in the description if worked for other minerals. I appreciate this isn't perfect since it means the mine won't be found if people search by mineral for the secondary product. But its pretty common and is fine when searching just by name (eg lead mines latterly being worked for zinc).

Hope that helps!
