New ground in Cwmorthin? Well, just maybe....
New to us anyway! Little SRT trip in Cwmorthin this Thursday for anyone who fancies it?
DonStuart has his eye on a nice long abseil and nobody has a clue where it goes so lets go and find out.

Do you know is it akready bolted Don? I think Speedy dropped it originally. But i hadbetter bring the drill and bolt kit just in case?

There's a piece of 3" x 1/2" steel bar set vertically between the floor & roof of the manway about 3 or 4ft in from the top (looked bomb proof last time I was there).

Also there's a length of rail loosely set across the bottom of the entrance to the manway which you can back-up to.

I also recall seeing a bolt in the level somewhere near the manway entrance.

I believe Corin mentioned that there was a bolt (or maybe more than one?) part way down but I've no idea where.

It might be a good idea to bring the bolting kit just in case.

I can weigh Margot down with my megarope (TM) if needed. It's still uncut so quite a bundle. Or, my not 100m rope, which is more manageable. I think it's actually around 80m.

Hi! Made it there for around 2100 but a combination of not being able to get in, along with tiredness after working since 0500 forced me to give up and retreat home to curry and beer :lol:
