Which quarry was this?

Protesters to picket controversial Gwynedd slate quarry meeting

http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/protesters-picket-controversial-gwynedd-slate-8430078

I can't see 'Dolbebin' on my map but there is 'Dolfebin' West of Tanyrallt and a small quarry near there.

I am interested because I think my Great Grandfather was the last manager of Tyn yr Weirglodd quarry at Talysarn.

Looks as if they won

I think you'll find that this 2nd URL relates to the failure of the previous application.

I notice that in the report on the application there was one reference to a World Heritage Slate Project or something like that.

Not this time.....
Anyway I'd better leave it there on that subject.....

We do a lot of work with the brothers who run the nearby Ty Mawr quarry, and they are making a go of it, employing their own mother in the office ( ;D) and a couple of others as well as keeping a local haulier going carrying stone out of there and generally getting on with the business of running a slate quarry.....quite a traditional way to earn a crust in the Nantlle Valley. The whole place is built on the slate industry and the village of Nantlle, frankly, needs all the help it can get :(
Employing 5 people would be a big deal in that area, not to mention clipping a few inches off the dole queue....

If it's any help, it looks like "Singrig" also know as Dolbebi West.
On page 75 of A J Richards "Slate Regions of N & Mid Wales".
We inhabit an island made of coal, surrounded by a sea full of fish. How can we go wrong.......
