I am planning a trip to this mine in 2014 and wondered which access route people use? Looked at map and short, but steep route from Penmachno village. If this best route, where would we park?

A lot of people seem walk down the tramway from the Welsh Slate premises. Its a bit of a trek but a nice walk, oddly even when the weather is as you'd expect of Blaenau Ffestiniog!

Easiest walk to Cwt y Bugail slate quarry is to park at the Bwlch car park here, drive up from Llan Ffestiniog:

Walking up from Penmachno good too, get to walk past the remains at Rhiwbach that way.
