Who fancies a trip this Thursday evening then?
Apologies for being so badly organised but with recent holidays etc and then a manic first week back in work I just haven't had time to think!

I've had a request from Pingu to make it a gentle-ish trip if possible as he has a couple of less-experienced mine explorers with him, so best to avoid SRT this time around? Doesn't mean that we can't get them cold/wet/muddy though?!!

Any suggestions? Who's free? :flowers:

Wrysgan - along the top level (possibly 3 levels of descent) then up - retreat and down - squeeze, rope and out at the lowest level.

Those that want could do the wire traverse??? Out by 23:00?

Or

Go for the dig in Conglog spotted by Don?

The kids did the Wrysgan traverse and a bit of wandering around but not the through trip yesterday, but any mine without any serious SRT will do  . Mind you, if the trip is Blaenau based there is CAKE, tea, coffee, beer, afterwards at my place

I would love to do the left side of Rhosydd one day, but it would mean a late finish.

I was thinking then, maybe that certain lead mine in the forest with a certain bollock deep adit that is located conveniently next to a car park, those who aren't confident with SRT can wade in through the bottom and have a look around (with someone as a guide) as there is plenty to see down there on its own, and those who want to do the SRT through trip can just meet everyone at the bottom.

I suggest this as I know a few people have wanted to do it for awhile now and it caters to all!

Of course if anyone else has a better idea I dont mind!

A certain....ahhh ok! 😉 😉 😉 Good suggestion Blober! I had it in mind, and had suggested it to Pingu yesterday....
I can lead in the wade if someone else could lead in the abseil?
We could pick up all the ladders and bits we missed last time?

I'm happy to lead the wade in if required, I mostly know my way around the bottom level. Although I love that through trip

I could probably find my way to lead on the abseil - given half an hour to find the 1st shaft, that is! 😮

Hi Corin

If we're all agreed then I'll post the trip up later on when I get time, but we'll meet at The Ugly House at 1800. 2 trips to the same mine, meet in the middle!
Option 1: a pull through trip consisting of 3 easy-ish abs, the 3rd being quite spectacular in my opinion 😉
Option 2: wade in through thigh-deep water, explore the extensive lower levels and meet up with the abseil gang.

We all wade out together straight out into the car-park for a quick change.

Anyone unsure please PM me. Pingu, I'll be in touch mate!

Phil.

If Corin's happy to check over my handywork, I'd give it a go. :flowers:
But can someone remind me if the 2nd pitch already has hangers in place or whether we'll need to take some (I haven't bought any yet)?

I have my 40m rope and para cord for the pull through on the 3rd drop.

Best add mozzy repellant to the kit list folks, you get eaten alive waiting at the first pitch.

Or shot :)

I seem to recall the hangers were in place, and that the pitch head was riddled with bolts new and old. And there was some black static in-situ IIRC.

Think I'll be coming. Just to note that there is some iffy false flooring on drainage adit level, if your going in on the adit it's after the second obvious false flooring (both with safety lines), under a load of low stemples with deads on top, immediately after there is water welly boot depth and branches all over the place. There is a hole in the floor on the right and I'm certain this whole area is on false floor, no safety line. however around this area is a nice upward explore if you want with ladders and ropes insitu. If you,re doing the through trip it's the first welly depth water you find (after the waterfall I think)

Worth rigging a safety line over this bit?

Water wasn't quite bollock depth last week but I was in a dry suit and Mr Friend and the camera kit were in a boat so didn't make much odds to us (and I dropped the water a couple of inches too)
