Does Nyth y gigfran connect to anything? Sorry if I'm intruding, but trying to learn more about the area, I love learning/understanding it's what drives me :p
Someone on here called it Nyth y giggly which made me laugh

Nyth y Gigfran was a separate quarry from the Upper Oakeley (Ex-Holland's) consisting of two small pits and several adits. A connection was made to it in the early 1920s by extending the Oakeley Floor 11 level to the south - they were after the "green" slate architectural market, supposedly, but it didn't come to much. The connection was used as an underground tour at Gloddfa Ganol in the 1970s-80s with caplamps etc. it was referred to as the "landrover Safari" (No dummies or mockups)

OK you can get back to discussing the currry now. BTW I and my dad used to spend quite a lot of time in the Queen's in the 70's (before the railway returned) chatting with the quarrymen - they were good times.

Cheers

Oh dear, I've just heard that Llanberis High Street is closed due to flooding.

It was emailed to all staff here at the Uni by an "offical spokesman". Could be exaggerated, but it'd be worth phoning ahead just in case.

I've seen a photo. There's about 2ft of water at the bottom end of the main street, i.e. the end by the Electric Mountain building.

Think we'd better cancel tonight. Llanberis is underwater and the Indian restaurant isn't answering the phone. Phil's stuck on the A5 somewhere.

Llion and Owain - you have texts!

The thinking session will have to wait until this time next week.

Of all the things the things the Thursday nighters have got up to it would seem a trip to a curry house proved too adventurous! 😮

We'll be back

Oops its Wednesday again and I haven't posted anything..... a thousand appologies..... :flowers: :flowers: extremely busy 😠

Ok well I'm free  Do we want to return to last week's plan and have our planning evening (code for "curry" 😉 )?
I will check out the Spice of Llanberis restaurant to see if they are open after last week's flooding (has anyone been past or heard anything? Pete's is open I hear) and post something up one way or the other and we can decide from there?

Pete's was definitely open for business on Saturday, though they had come very close to being flooded on Thursday. The Spice had lights on inside on Saturday night but I didn't check it out.

I can pick up my calendar if it's arrived by then :smartass:

We are aiming for 1900 hrs but we can knock it back a bit if you like.... and we will be there all evening so don't worry about being late.... actually on past form we will all be "fashionably late" and by the time we've decided on starters you probably be there anyway
