I worked for a company that made scrap balers in the 60s, they tried a few experiments with baling refuse, scrap foam etc.
Lots of comical teething troubles. πŸ˜‰

I think the rubbish referred to here is slate waste or "rubbish" slate of which there is still a fair amount, despite garyj's best efforts!

I did wonder! Why would a "refuse destructor" appear on a mine-related website? All becomes clear now!

OK - I shouldn't have used the word "Rubbish" then - "slate waste" crusher perhaps. Whatever, it was this crusher's output which buried the "Lord" and "Lady" bastions to their tops and which has contributed to the "ramparts" around Princess May - some output went to the fullersite mills of course, though how the split was determined I don't know..

The map is the territory - especially in chain scale.

If I had bothered to check the context of the image by looking at the related gallery, perhaps I would have realised. My error.

I wonder why they needed to crush it before tipping it? I can understand precrushing it for the Fullersite plant.

Does that mean "rubbish wagons" should be renamed "slate waste wagons"? - I don't think so, they were normally known thus I believe! πŸ˜‰

Ahh, all becomes clear. 😞
