Depending on the accuracy of the statement "Not far from Hospital", this is either Alltwen (nearest hospital) or Ladas (a bit further along). Both of these quarries have there own "mine page" on this site. It might be best to move this photo to which ever is the more appropriate page.

Yes, or have it in both Dinorwig and the other quarry..
Do you think it could be Ladas quarry?? Though it seems a bit too far along for that.
Wasn't Ladas also the name for the Rheilffordd yr Wyddfa loco, which had a slight accident?

Having now looked at Flashearth and tried to compare the aerial photo with the streetmap locations and the your father's photo, I think it is Ladas Quarry.

Ladas was the name of No1 1 on SMR. It was also yet another racehorse jointly owned by Assheton Smith. The letteres L A D A S are the initials of one of the femail members of the Assheton Smith family. I cannot remember it in full but it is Lady (A) (D) Assheton Smith.

If you look closely at the Flashearth image you can see a train on Llanberis Lake Railway.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
