With Ian Tyler not being able to find a single buyer for the Museum. Ian is now planning to sell off the business on a "peace meal" bases with a series of sales.

The current dates as given in the Northen Mines Research Society news letter as as follows:

- 21-Aug-2012 - Books & Ephemera
- 15-Sep-2012 - Minerals & Fossils
- 06-Oct-2012 - Lamps & Instruments (Date will be advanced)
- 01-Oct-2012 - Museum Closes (this date was 27-Oct-2012)

This will be the last opportunity to view the last remaining Cumbrian Mining Museum and also to help clear the shelves and cabinets as well pick up a few bargins!!!!.

From Kate Tyler's post a few moments ago:

Quote:

I spoke with Dad yesterday and he asked me to post that the museum would not be open to anyone after the 1st October 2012. The dates prior to that time for sale days I assume will go ahead as advertised. Apologies for any misunderstanding. Please call him if there are any specific items you are interested in to avoid missing out!

Might be worth editing the fist post in this thread to avoid any confusion about the museum being open after 1st October.
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

OK Simon changes made.

- The closing Date is now the 01-Oct-2012, this was the 27-Oct-2012. Hopefully things will go well for Ian and closure of the Museum may be a bit earlier.

I will say Ian has a good collection of books for sale and people should get in there to buy as there will be some excellent deals to be had

Mike - Ian certainly has a very good selection of old books - especially as he is selling some some of his private collection along with the stock in the museum.

nfortunately Ian is very traditional and doesn't have a list you could ring him and find out what might be of interest to you

If you check out the mining musuem website you will find his personal as well as the business phone numbers
