We have done some digging work at Bentyfield Mine, clearing the level entrance next to the mine shop. English Heritage has recommended that I should apply for a SMC for the dig, and provided some helpful guidance on the application. I am now off to speak to the landowner - the work is currently being done under the permissions of the NP AONB project which is likely to end soon. Will therefore need continuing permission from the farmer. I will post here after I have spoken with the farmer.

SMC = scheduled monument consent. The The site is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) and in order to do any work on the site, we should have a SMC.
