We recently carried out an inspection of the secured adit gate to find that the high tensile chain links had been cut with an angle grinder. We have now replaced these entailing expenses that I would have sooner spent on our latest projects. The grinder gangs and individuals who carry out these attacks have no respect for the mine, and are completely indifferent to the possible ramifications of their actions, i.e allowing access by even bigger idiots than themselves. We have been given some idea of who may be responsible, next time we will be reporting this criminal damage to the police. So please leave well alone before you mess up access County wide for responsible and experienced explorers.

Or perhaps some mine explorers just want to have a look around?

If someone was to ask to have a look around, would the request be refused?

Don't answer a question with a question. You are in a unique position in Cornwall, We all know how the mine exploring community work, if you deny access, expect your locks to be chopped.

Did you think this would not happen?

I agree with everything HRH His Freshness says.

I have never been in Geevor adit but understand its one of the best trips in Cornwall. I have tried in the past to get on a trip and been looking forward to a "permission granted" trip that didnt happen (as mentioned above).

We all know the "St Just lot" are allowed in but you deny others, to then get upset that your lock was chopped on one of the best trips in Cornwall seems a bit silly, you really should have anticipated this and maybe shrug it off or at least learn from it.

When you deny access like this, you isolate yourself from the wider community, its a great shame as you miss out on all whats going on, also posting in this manor is going to put all eyes on your site and maybe even publicise it to a wider audience.

Before you think I am a C--T, please realise I am a regular paying Geevor customer. I visit many times a year, eat in the restaurant and bring other people to see the site. We are all interested in the history of Cornwalls mining, some more so than others.

I am not your enemy, much to the contrary, you just need to take a step back and consider the wider picture. LET US HAVE A LOOK AROUND!

Not being a local explorer, I cannot comment on the rights and wrongs of the situation. But it never ceases to disappoint me every time something like this happens that all the apologists for petty criminals come out. You may think the locks and gates are wrong, you may think those that install them are using the wrong solution to the problem they have, but if you are going to criticise those that act in a way you don't like insofar as allowing access is concerned, the very least you should also do is condemn the damage done to someone else's property.
