Not knowing this area myself,would anyone know if Mining of any kind has taken place in this vicinity?
Query on another site of person considering purchasing land in this area and showed iron oxide deposits in stream,similar to leaching from old workings.

The whetstone mining is described in Devons non metal mines by Edwards. Obviously the Blackdowns cover S W Somerset too. No other mining I know of. Lots of superstitions about black dogs though!:)
