Hi,I am looking to get in contact with someone in Dorset with experience of some of the underground workings in Purbeck. Plenty of experience in caves and mines in Devon,PCG member and own gear. I understand, most workings are sealed or no access, but a few are still open?? The coastal workings all seem quite unstable,so an experienced guide only please. I live in Blandford in the week so an evening trip would be great now summers here!!! Regards Tony.

I think there was an article about Chelsea Speleological Society Journal about something accessible. Contact John stephens of CSS.

Hello Doris,Quarrs are mines where limestone was extracted around Swanage and along the ridge to Kingston, the ball clay comes from the heath around Wareham and Corfe. You will have to visit one day!!Cheers 😉

I did send a message a week ago but it has never left the Outbox & gone into Sent Items - messages appear not to work very well on this forum! Got yours OK though. You could resend your original by email to [email protected] which will get to me OK then will send my reply back.

That just means he hasn't read it. They stay in your out box until actually read by the recipient, then they transfer to sent box.
