SRJ underwater mining

Does anyone have any information on any mine workings in and around the village of Ashton on the Penzance to Helston road in Cornwall?
A friend has recently moved there and is wondering if there could be any holes under their feet 😉

One knows a bit as my partner lives there - send us a pm
If it can't be grown it has to be mined.

Trevena Mine to the North.

Wheal Ann United to the SW

Wheal Helen to the SE

Not much on the OS maps.

If they want a detailed report done, I have a good chum who does such things.

Without looking at Google Earth, it is quite possible that mining may be more below them than they think, as a very quick comment (rather than a detailed look), if their house is older than 1860, it is unlikely to have a hole under it looking at the various bits and bobs

Thanks for that Drillbilly. Will pass those details on to them. I don't think they have any real concerns with where they are living, more rather just a passing interest to see if anything was likely to be around them.

Given the info you've supplied, plus the info from Keith its safe to say there is probaly something under or very near by given the surrounding cluster of mines

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
