I know someone with a Farm (the Selwoods) on Sandy Lane, will ask them if they have had any problems!
Is it safe to come out of the bunker yet?

very nice bit of sinkage i notice along sandy lane where all those ghastly lego boxes for the middle class that have been gerrymandered down here , yes erm anyway i been looking for good plans of all this area but theres not much at all ,no detailed plans i could find even determining lode dips and position is a poor do.

Surprisingly, there are several good plans/maps of the area, which is a good job as it's a mine investigation/movement prone area.

Cal Hill is aka East Wheal Trefusis which has it's own Dines entry and nice plan at CRO.

yeah lol shame non of its accurate or goes back to when these mines where first worked i know of 7 areas that show serious subsidence yet they continue to build on the lot .. what is a miracle is the adits still running, other shallower adits being deliberatly blocked as was found out when folks tried to get under redruth , oh btw i think i know of a place u can drop the pednandrea adit rite by the junction of green lane and drump road somwhere in the trees there was access for extracting water .one assumes it drops to the adit that outflows by the brewery .. anyway im sure somins gonna go here soon theres some pretty worrying looking sinkages all over this area .

The Green Lane access was a doorway in a wall which had granite steps leading down to the adit, which was only a matter of a few feet below the road. It used to have an iron gate on it but now has been blocked up and is hidden under the ivy on the wall. Only access now is by osmosis

lol at that roy , i was looking thru some plans and saw that and thought id punt it out as an access it seems theres no way under redruth then .. folks better hope the adit dont block cos it will back up for miles as the shallow adits where blocked on purpose by the mines operators,.. i was reading in aid of increasing the flow further down stream , anyway have a mooch down the end of park road and marvel at the large depression the dimensions of a shaft by the last speed bump ,also round the trefusis, arms next to the building demolished and still left un rebuilt , theres a drop in the wall by the traffic lights ,if u look up hill and across it meets up with the cracks in the pub, clearly more than just where that house was is unstable . anyway i have a question that may be answered easily ..can anyone tell me the direction of dip of the sparnon lodes does it dip under the town or away in the direction of lanner .. do those five lodes coalesce i just couldnt find out from the things i found in the redruth archives.

Talking of Redruth adits, Ham jenks talks about "only open shaft at the bottom of sparnon hill"

I have poked my head over here and not seen anything, but I was (in a rush) and walked past and heard "big water" over the hedge. There is something in there.

That is the river that runs under most of the town. It came to surface between the old gas works and the back of Falmouth road. It then went underground again and surfaced at the side of the Regal cinema. It then carries on to form part of the brewery leats which also fed Sarah's foundry and from there down Gilberts Coombe to Portreath

Yep. He says "North side of the foot of sparnon hill". The plan shows no adit or shaft there.

The iron door to which Roy refers to was below where Jack Trounson used to live. There must have been a collapse on the lower side of this in the mid seventies, as water was pouring down the road for quite a while. It was at this time the door was removed and the entrance blocked up.
