Hi I hope you don't mind me posting. I haven't posted before but like to read all about the mines etc. Am cross posting a plea put out on 'please help find these missing dogs in Cornwall' on fb about a dog possibly stuck down a shaft near St Ives. Here's the message : "Anyone know of any experienced, knowledgable people who can search mines? Needing possible climbers or mine experts to search around St Ives area for a dog that's possibly fallen down a shaft" .I am imagining this is pretty dangerous for someone to go down and risk them selves but is there anyone on here with local knowledge who wouldn't mind contacting the owner. 07415 460776 or
07949262714 Thanks for listening

Bit of a difficult situation, shame bout the dog's accident.

Most of us on aditnow are in Wales or Northern England, Cornwall is an area not visited for underground trips by most of us due to the access being more sensitive, you might have better luck searching locally. I'd be surprised if no-one took up the offer though, there are mining groups in Cornwall and mine rescue groups I suppose, probably the best option.

Have a look for the Carbis Bay Crew www.carbisbaycrew.co.uk perhaps. They are active underground and may know the area. Members of various other clubs and CRO organisations in the area also read this forum so may pick up on it.

The info I have is that the dogs (Patterdales) went missing in Knill's woods.
Apparently, (2nd hand info) the fire service went out to take a look, which suggests to me that a shaft has been located as a possibility. I thought most of the shafts around there had been treated with only a few pits, of no real depth, in the woods.
Wheal speed is a little different but away from the site of the dogs disappearance.
Hope all turns out OK.

Thanks Jim, I gave the owners daughter your website last night. I will tell her now to email you if she hasn't already done so. Thank you all so much for your help and advice 🙂
