It's not about socialism vs capitalism anymore. The red/blue/yellow ties are all in the middle. It's the up-down axis which is of concern. Less government vs More government. They are all fans of hugely expensive and legislative "more government" including it's undemocratic and parasitic totalitarian monster, the EUSSR.
Looking at the long picture, since rising energy, population and less jobs/growth will mean that the state in it's current form will reach a T junction in due course....we heard Mandelson mention the term "post-democratic era". This predicament is not so much about stimulus to "get back to growth" it's about how they (the political class) can manage the transition to the post-democratic era (so they can nanny everyone, feather their own nests and strut around the world stage) rather than all being out on their ears due to the lack of money and finance available to facilitate the whole thing.
It really is continuing unhindered (the progress to a supranational undemocratic totalitarian state) with the main parties only differing in which trivia they fiddle with. Along come UKIP and have said they will back nanny state off, get off people's backs and get out of the EUSSR. This is a good thing, however, I think it is actually impossible.
There are a number of factors which will make things interesting. 1. What happens in the Scottish Independence vote. If we lose Scotland, the Tories will be firmly in. 2. 2015 Labour victory....UKIP are unlikely to pull the cat out of the bag.... people need to vote for the blue ties, otherwise the red ties will get in with the yellow ties (and do exactly the same thing).....So, Ed Milliband walks into no 10 and Balls in No 11 decides to have a massive stimulus. At a point afterwards when it appears to have not worked (created growth) the money markets will hand our arses to us on a plate.
Probably a good time to join the Euro then and share all the misery out equally.....apart from the Political class, who will have made a large amount of hay in the meantime.
My money is firmly on Labour and then the EU (united states of Europe) shortly after. I'd love UKIP to pull us back to a innovative, free island where sensible economic/energy policies rule and we are profitable and enjoy a good quality of life......Sadly, the EU lot need our money so they can spread it out more equally in order to facilitate the greater good in the post-growth economic era.....Meanwhile the charities, 3rd sector, NGO's headed by glazed eyed-useful idiots are merely helping those who are in power facilitate their version of events. (Technocratic government headed by people who deserve more power and money)
That's what I think.
