For those that might be interested I have uploaded some photos of some of the underground plans for Fowey Consols Mine with a brief description in the Fowey Consols Archive Album, these were taken by myself some years ago with a cheapo camera so excuse the quality, I have a couple of paper copies somewhere of the surface layout around the principle shafts, I will try and upload them when I find them.

This old chestnut, the eternal can you get in to Fowey Consols question?

As I understand it, no access at present.

However I keep hearing rumours of hidden adits and people trying to dig in.

I know of one adit that should go if you are prepared to dig through a backfilled shaft shoring up as you go. The main problem is gaining landowner position.

I know of two open shafts near Fowey Consols that are deep, dont know what they go to. I know the landowners godson and am trying to get permission to drop them, really want to rig a high line to drop off as the edge of one is a little crumbly.

I gather that the owner of the engine house is not someone to be approached, unless you want a load of aggro. Both the engine and whim shafts are open and deep.

There are 3 adits. You can get to Austen's Whim via one of them. See photos on mindat. Another one is in the garden of someone who, if legend has it, will kick your face off if you go anywhere near his house. (having said, this is why god created night and macsalvors)

Although this could be mineral collector propaganda.

I'm up for having a look.

So, yet another case of someone buying a house on a mining site and then being angry that people interested in mines want to look at it.......

Who would have thought that might happen ?

Exciting news, will have to have a poke around.

Who owns the shafts? Isnt it up behind the riding school.

I have walked around here and you can tell its territorial!

I know mineral collectors use dirty tactics, even feigning bat roosting sites!

However if you are referring to who I think you are then there may be some truth in it.

In addition, there is now in the Aditnow section on Youtube an animation of Fowey Consols and some other mines close by in the same style as the others. Enjoy ...
If it can't be grown it has to be mined.

Is that the one we where we wandered up the lane and decided to ****** off sharpish? I believe you can get down that one if you can squeeze past the myriad granadas and triumphs that have been chucked down it!!

Agricola: Seeing the whole 3D plan movie which you have put together was fantastic.

I think you should upload it to the interweb, even if you do put an irritating watermark in a corner of it.

Hi, if you go up the track from Porcupine Lane that's no problem as it is a public right of way, however there is a turning off that track where some scrap cars etc are, if you go in there and the lads there don't know you you could be in for a rough time, just some sound advice.
I know them very well so if I am around then no problem unless you have run into them before in bad circumstances as they tend not to forget faces, all this is honest sound advice.

Did anyone go down in the end or investigate?

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
