Hi Everyone
Has anybody got any pics of Levers Water Mine? especially the 9 stemples you have to cross!! On a visit in June my camera battery went flat, bloody typical. am doing a presentation on some mines 'up north' and need some pics of this mine, would be much appreciated. Can you tell me what NORPEX stands for? I was told but have forgotten.

The Levers Water mine we have in the database is shown at the opposite end of the lake from the dam, ie opposite the top of the main Coniston workings?

Slightly off topic, but am I mistaken in thinking that about 25 years ago, someone found an improvised bomb under a wooden plug that holds back Levers Water from entering the Coniston mines?

Yup...the bomb was dismantled and the immediate section of passage grouted and sealed to prevent any second detonation attempt... All very weird as whoever was the culprit must have gone to a *lot* of effort to get the gear there... Was never determined who they were, IIRC reading about
