Is that cloud perchance?

I'd have had a stab at long-exposure and cloud bouncing light from a town behind the engine shaft, but the stars don't show much movement, which makes a long exposure less likely?

Ah, no, some stars do show some movement, don't they? I forget that in some parts of the sky the stars don't move much whereas in others they do... 😞

The movement in a given time is at its greatest when looking at stars on the equator (meaning they would pass overhead if you were stood on the equator and decreases as you look towards the poles.

Ha! Thanks for picking up on the pic!

It is indeed a long exposure shot. They are usually 2-3 minutes long, locked off on a tripod.

This particular shot, had a full moon illuminating the buildings from behind me, then, fortuitously, the clouds were blowing towards me from behind the engine house - indeed, illuminated by the light pollution from Camborne!

The only thing I do with it in Photoshop is adjust the levels, add a border and the watermark at the bottom. It isn't a filter or anything like that!
