Hey guys,

I'm up around Shipham thurs/fri and wondered if anyone knows how access can be arranged to Singing River mine. I gather the entrance is now locked. Advice on who to contact would be appreciated. I have BCS membership. Thanks!

Not been down the mine for a few years. The entrance shaft is in someones back garden. Just call into the house to let the owners know someone is going down. I am sure I uploaded a survey of it on here, check if I have, if you cannot find it I can email you one.

As for the key, you will need to contact local caving clubs, best bet would probably be BEC:

Thanks Simon, more info on access form BEC:

SINGING RIVER MINE ST 4447 5736

Please make a courtesy call to the landowner, Mrs M Rignall, Northwood Mill, Folly Lane, Shipham. Park cars in the Square, not in the lane or by the field gate, and change by the mine entrance out of sight of the local residents. Please Note that due to the proximity of the mine entrance to the village it is essential that you lock the gate whilst in the mine and check that the gate is securely locked before leaving. Failure to do this will jeopardise future access.

Please note that mines can be unstable, don't touch props or stacks of miners deads. Please leave any artifacts where you find them for others to enjoy.

This site is gated and locked. Keys are held by the major Mendip Clubs. These are the ACG, BEC, CSS, MCG, MNRC, SMCC and WCC. Arrangements should be made with any one of these clubs to borrow the key.
