Isn't this the chimney at Wheal Metal and Flow (Watsons)? is Emma mine the alternate name?

Hello Iclock, Wheal Emma lies on the other side of the valley (south-west side), and south of Metal and Flow. The adit level is still open, and worth a visit if you're in the area, but it's not extensive. Interesting though.

My fault! Whoops, apologies, slip of the map reading finger.
Emma is across valley from watson's 30", roughly 200-300yds to right of where youre engine house pic was taken, no surface remains there apart from some bumpy bits.
Pic has been taken from Emma page.
How did they manage that extroadinary brickwork detail !!

very carefully... I was talking to a bricky friend re this who does ornamental and he says the work in the pic is extremely good and would have required very careful planning and that such a design on a curved surface requires expert brick laying.... he was very surprised tho that its not been stabalised to conserve it as brickwork of far less ornamentation has very quickly been subject to conservation.. Gaz tends to know his stuff having worked on restoring brickwork on many buildings...
