This "tip" is not from the original workings of Devon Great Consols but from a much later period. The main dumps on DGC were re-worked during the late 1970's, this operation only lasted a few years, but large quanties of the original dumps were re-processed, the the dump in the photo is the waste material from that later operation. This area was quite flat before this material was dumped here, the present dump has probably raised the surface level approx' thirty feet at its highest point. These later re-workings of the dumps had a dramatic effect on the visual history of the area with vast amounts of the dumps being removed.
