i have just posed the first of a series of surface working surveys of Cornish mines, this one (west carodon)http://www.aditnow.co.uk/documents/west-carodon-Copper-Mine/WEST-CORODEN-PLAN_41.pdf is kind of a testbed for the rest as I’m trying to come up with a good clear style of mapping, colour scheme for different component parts which is clear without the use of a key, and in a format that is not too large but has depth of detail, so any thoughts guys?

I reckon it makes sense, i take it the slopes/tip/spoil.are at the lowest point where the black lines thin out.
The olive coloured lines are boundries/wall/hedge.
Some marsh/shrubs
Blue bits are water

Nice - colour etc. is ok - prints clearly at A4, not so sure about the heavy hachures, but I appreciate it's very difficult to convey tips and similar slopes!

Ought to give a survey date though, as things do change.

Cheers

Graham
The map is the territory - especially in chain scale.

Have seen this survey before in a publication by Caradon District Council. Layout the same, just a few colours added, and a few lines altered. Copyright laws are there for a reason

I agree that to some extent (the text at least) is based on the minions archeologically survey but this survey is my own work and compiled from ground measurements and aerial photographs of the area, what i have used (things like description of buildings) are not copyrighted and therefore there is no problem !

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
